Our Practice

 

Barlborough Medical Practice was formed in 1993, and has seen a steady growth in practice list size from its opening. There are 2 full time GP principles,

Dr Andrew Palmer MBChB (Leicester 1984), DRCOG, DFFP, MRCGP,

and Dr. Gemma Lovelock MBChB, MRCGP Qualified at the University of Liverpool in 2012.

(They hold a contract with NHS England to provide personal medical services)  

 

We have a two salaried GP's, Dr Olayinka Olubowale (MBBS) (University of Ibadan 1997) DRCOG, DFFP, MRCGP, and Dr Judy Gardner a Locum GP, MBChB, MRCGP (Manchester 1987). Barlborough Medical Practice is a semi rural dispensing practice run from 2 sites, a main surgery at Barlborough, and a branch at Renishaw.

 

The Renishaw building is shared with another practice, 

our reception can be found through the main entrance and down the first corridor on the left. The practice area includes Barlborough, Renishaw, Clowne, Eckington, Killamarsh, Spinkhill, Mastin Moor, Staveley, Marsh Lane, Harthill, Whitwell, Creswell, Elmton, Mosborough, Halfway, Norbriggs and Stanfree.

 

We are dedicated to offering the Best Level of Primary Care we can for our patients. 

Systems are in place to make our Service run as efficiently as possible.

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice. The average pay for GPs working in Barlborough Medical Practice in the last financial year was £66,542 before tax and national insurance. This is for 2 full time GPs and 1 part time GPs and 2 locum who worked in the practice for more than six months.

At busy times however, or if consultations are running over, your wait may be longer than expected.  Please be patient with us at such times, we are doing our best!

We welcome patient views on the service we provide.  If you wish to contact us regarding any specific issues, including complaints please write to Nigel Atkin, the Practice Manager.

 

We have a complaints procedure available from reception and on our website.

 

We offer a wide range of medical services at both branches, including Child Health Surveillance, contraceptive services, and flu clinics, minor surgery including cryotherapy, maternity medical services, health visitor, baby clinics and counselling.  

We also undertake regular surveillance of chronic illness and provide an anticoagulation monitoring clinic.  

We are a dispensing practice, meaning that we are able to provide medications directly to any of our patients who live more than a mile from a Chemist.

 

When ordering prescriptions please allow 48 hours before collection.
